Oh, the intelligence of my generation.
Blaspheme! Learn to spell or powerful forces (maybe like Hippocrates’ spirit or something) will smite you!
What's that about? What's that about?: just because →
i want one sci/fi/fantasy book somewhere—just ONE—to address menstruation in the apocalypse.
or: i find it more believable that the snatchers smelled hermione’s menstruation blood than her perfume (this was in the movie)—hermione is not the sort of person to wear…
I actually don’t know if this was mentioned or if I just thought of it while I was reading, but the girls were starving in the actual games, so they were too thin for their periods is I believe explanation. Whether it was the one the book gave or I gave myself is an entirely different matter. But good point, I hadn’t thought of that! :)
bitch what are you doing
oh ur so smug n cute
Didn’t I go to high school with this girl and her 5-head?
Oh yeah, this girl. Poor thing. She’s just kinda FUBAR.
Seriously? Feel free to disagree with this girl, but being unnecessarily mean and disrespectful speaks ill of those commenting rather than this girl who’s just throwing her opinion out there. Goodness.

Why do these “quotes” look like contradictions when paired with an infant? Because it’s a straw man and no one on our side pairs the two. We’re not talking about an infant and you know it. The only people who conflate a zygote and the baby in this picture are… wait for it!…you!
Further, if we want to talk about abortion then how are zygote, embryo, and fetus inaccurate? You keep asserting that science is on your side and proves your arguments. If that’s true than let’s use medical terminology and accurate images. The correct terms are zygote, blastocyst, embryo, and fetus.
An accurate image would be something like these, considering 61.8% abortions happen at less than 9 weeks LMP.
This is an embryo at Carnegie Stage 17, 42-44 days post-ovulation (or approx. 8 weeks LMP).
This is an embryo at Carnegie Stage 19, 48-51 days post-ovulation (or approx. 9 weeks LMP).
I can see clearly now why these images wouldn’t appeal to you though. After all, these embryos don’t look like babies and instead of holding them precariously on your forearm you could easily put them on the tip of your finger.
I wonder why we need to say things like “blob of cells” and “clump of tissue.” Maybe it’s because it starts out looking like this:
Or maybe it’s because we need to constantly remind people that it’s important to distinguish and differentiate between an embryo and the person with rights that it’s inside of. You know the sentient, autonomous person:
Waaait, where is their face?! Oh, so that’s why all antichoice propaganda refuses to show faces. Then people would remember that pregnant people aren’t “locations” or “houses” but people with feelings (or rights for that matter), not undeveloped, minute, cell clusters that are so small it’s hard to even distinguish any features they may have. Point proven.
Pro-tips:
- Words have meanings.
- Don’t fear science.
- If you were right, you wouldn’t need pseudoscience, propaganda, and downright lies.
- If everything you say is predicated on a logical fallacy, rethink your stance. If you cannot argue without them because you simply won’t convince anyone than maybe you’re wrong.
- Advocating for forced birth makes you a douche.
One last question: This is what an actual abortion looks like. Where’s the baby?
Hint: It’s “dispossible” to find the baby because it’s not there.
It’s true, the baby propaganda is not scientific, and it’s perfectly fair to call out pro-lifers on that. That is absolutely right.
However, the inherent argument is that one cannot simply decide at what point all of these lovely scientific words constitutes a human. They all do, one at different stages of development. It doesn’t matter whether it has eyes, or cute little toes, or whether it can barely be seen on the tip of your finger. It’s human.
This of course does not mean the rights of the fully developed person should be discounted; that person should have full access to birth control, healthcare, etc. However, this is where the the delineation between pro-life and pro-choice becomes clear: do all humans have rights, or just the ones that reach a certain level of development?
So, yes, this picture is faulty. But the picture that affected me the most? The last one. I almost threw up.
I know you’re not supposed to eat your feelings but when Congress asks an all-male panel to testify on birth control & women’s health, a woman does what she must. (Taken with instagram)
I wonder what would happen if all the women in the country organized a sex boycott. Just refuse to have any kind of sex, until we are assured (by law) that we’re in control of our own lives, personal well-being, health, reproductive rights etc. I bet either shit would get done or the entire internet would crash from all the porn being watched.
Hahaha that’s great. It really is ridiculous that it’s an all-male panel. Wooo patriarchy.
